bio-fuels: the new threat to native forests

It’s the next wave of destruction for our native forests. Industry calls this ‘renewable energy’.  It wants the government to help pay for it in the form of ‘renewable energy certificates’ and other subsidies at the community’s expense.

Our new mapping shows that 437 million hectares of our land is covered by coal and gas licences or applications. That's more than half of Australia and an area 18 times the size of Great Britain.

Testing reveals potentially dangerous ingredients in sunscreen and cosmetics

New testing from the National Measurement Institute (NMI) has revealed that many Australian sunscreen and cosmetic products still contain anatase titanium dioxide, despite years of warnings of its extreme potential to generate free radicals - which could damage DNA and protein.
